Hello future Media Studies-students,
We hope that you are all safe, enjoying your holiday and looking forward to your first year as a university student. As you might know, on August 6th the Dutch government enforced new measures to fight the COVID-19 virus, some of which directly concerning university matters such as introduction activities, periods and camps.
Unfortunately, as a result of these new measures and with due regard for the health and safety risks for those hosting and attending, MESA was forced to cancel this year’s introduction camp. Great efforts were made to make sure that the camp could proceed in a corona-proof fashion, complying with all measures in force. However, as of August 6th new measures directly forbid any such event. Therefore, the MESA Intro camp which was scheduled for September 4-6 cannot take place.
A new plan has been set up. There will be an introduction activity on the 4th of September, right after the introduction day which is organized by the Media Studies staff. Further information about this day will be shared with you through our socials and email, so keep an eye out for any updates there.
As much as cancelling this years’ intro camp is unfortunate, it doesn’t mean there is nothing to look forward to. MESA is still passionate to allow you to meet your fellow students and have a good time. We are planning plenty of fun events that will probably take place both online and offline. Besides these events, MESA offers summaries, lectures, committees and much more so you can get in contact with people even though the current situation can make this more challenging. We hope to welcome you to our study association and still see you at one of our events and around our faculty. We’ll stay in touch!
